Kristiina Susanna Hyttinen

My time at Ilia State University (ILIAUNI) has been one of the most important and transformative chapters of my life. Studying medicine there challenged me academically, strengthened my discipline, and helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Throughout these years, I gained not only medical knowledge and clinical experience, but also lifelong memories, friendships, and confidence in myself. The journey was demanding, filled with long hours of studying, exams, and clinical practice, but it taught me resilience, responsibility, and compassion; qualities that are essential in medicine.

One of the most memorable parts of my experience was learning in an international environment and meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds. ILIAUNI gave me the opportunity to develop critical thinking, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of patient care.

Today, I look back with gratitude at everything this education has given me. ILIAUNI has played a significant role in shaping my journey and preparing me for my future career as a doctor. Now, I am continuing this journey in Finland, my home country, where I am taking the next steps in my medical career and applying everything I learned during my years at ILIAUNI. I will always appreciate the experiences, lessons, and opportunities I received during my years there.

My experiences at Ilia State University have been among the most significant and memorable moments of my academic journey. At the beginning, I felt a bit intimidated and faced some difficulties as a new student in Tbilisi, but over time, I adapted and began to feel at home in the university environment. Academically, I gained strong knowledge in business and management along with practical skills that helped me understand real-life situations better. I learned a lot through interactive and engaging teaching methods, including group work, presentations, and class discussions, which helped me develop communication, teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking skills. This contributed greatly to both my personal and professional development.

What made the experience even better was the supportive and friendly system at Ilia State University. The environment motivated students to do their best and was always ready to support them when needed. Alongside my studies, I also learned independence, confidence, and adaptability, and I will always be grateful for everything I learned during my time there.

My message to future students: take advantage of every opportunity, stay consistent, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. University is not just about learning, it’s about becoming a better person and building your future.

Lamia Khalid

My six-year journey at Ilia State University as a medical student has been nothing short of an adventure. The person I was when I started and the person I am now feel like two completely different individuals, a transformation shaped by the guidance, mentorship, and support of my professors. The university provided a supportive and diverse learning environment, where I learned from dedicated faculty and gained valuable clinical exposure that strengthened my confidence as a future healthcare professional.

Beyond academics, some of my most meaningful memories come from the friendships I built along the way. Whether in class or over endless cups of chai while stressing about exams, I formed bonds with friends who became family. These years gave me not only an education but also unforgettable memories and shared experiences I will always cherish. In hindsight, I am truly grateful for the personal and professional growth this journey provided, preparing me for the next stage of my medical career and a lifelong path of learning and service.
